Jammu, March 4 (KNS): The second session of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly is set to witness a heated discussion on crucial public issues, with MLAs gearing up to raise 40 pressing questions during the proceedings scheduled for tomorrow.
The questions, covering governance, employment, infrastructure, tourism, healthcare, and education, are expected to put the government in the spotlight over its policies and development initiatives.
One of the key issues that will be raised by MLA Handwara & JKPC chief Gani Lone pertains to the high number of vacancies in government departments, the hefty fees charged by the Service Selection Board (SSB) and Public Service Commission (PSC), and the demand for free job application forms.
Mir Saifullah is set to push for the construction of a tunnel in Keran to ensure winter connectivity, while Rajeev Kumar will seek details on the status of a proposed double-lane road from Kunjwani to Arnia.
Tourism and environmental concerns will also take center stage. Yudhvir Sethi plans to ask about the government’s steps to boost tourism in Jammu City, while Mubarak Gul will demand updated tourist influx data and new infrastructure projects. Justice Hasnain Masoodi is expected to question the failure of the PM Saffron Mission and call for an inquiry, whereas Waheed ul Rehman Para will seek an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for the Amarnath Yatra road and stronger wetland protection measures.
Health and education are also likely to feature prominently in the discussions. Ali Mohammad Dar is set to highlight the gaps in health infrastructure in Budgam, and Javid Ahmad Mirchal will demand an upgrade of the Sub-District Hospital in Tangdar, Karnah. Dr. Rameshwar Singh is expected to raise concerns about the neglect of Government High School Lohai, while Showkat Hussain Ganie will question the government on the need for new receiving stations in Zainapora.

Abdul Majid Larmi is set to demand the inclusion of Nagrus and Watihal villages in Block Qazigund, and Nazir Ahmad Khan Gurezi will push for jobs for families affected by the Kishan Ganga Project.
Power and water supply concerns will be raised as well. Satish Kumar Sharma will question the electrification status of Thingen and Kanod villages, while Irshad Rasool Kar will ask for updates on AMRUT 2.0 progress in Sopore. Nizam-Ud-Din Bhat is expected to seek clarity on the status of water supply schemes in Bandipora, and Tanveer Sadiq will press the government on the dredging delays in Dal Lake.
Several unstarred questions will also be raised in written format. Sajad Gani Lone is set to ask about the shelving of an engineering college in Kupwara, while Mir Saifullah will demand answers regarding teacher vacancies in Kupwara schools. Abdul Majid Larmi will inquire about the Jan Poshan Kendras in Anantnag-West, and Qaysar Jamshaid Lone will question the government on the status of schools in the Lolab constituency.
Other issues expected to come up include the demand for playgrounds in Beerwah, raised by Dr. Shafi Ahmad Wani, and the revival of the Sharab Khul spring, which will be questioned by Ali Mohammad Sagar. Salman Sagar is set to push for ambulances at Zakoora NTPHC, and Arjun Singh Raju will raise concerns about landslide compensation for Ramban residents. Javid Ahmad Mirchal will highlight the inadequacy of ration quotas, while Adv. Reyaz Ahmed Khan will inquire about the upgradation of NTPHCs.
With these wide-ranging concerns set to be raised in the Assembly, tomorrow’s session is expected to be a crucial one, as MLAs seek accountability from the government on issues that directly impact the people of Jammu and Kashmir. (KNS)
