Srinagar, Sep 29 (KNS) The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly's autumn session will be adjourned sine die on Wednesday, with the final day set to be dominated by a raft of opposition Calling Attention Notices on issues ranging from acute drinking water scarcity and flash flood devastation to alleged discrimination against the Kashmir Division in the issuance of Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) certificates.
According to the List of Business for September 29, 2026 accessed news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) several MLAs have called the attention of the Minister Incharge Jal Shakti to the "situation that has arisen due to shortage of drinking water" across the Union Territory.
Arjun Singh Raju will flag the shortage in Batote and Ramban towns, caused by non-functioning filtration plants at Batote and Ward No. 02 of Ramban, and the paucity of water tankers in Ramban. Sajad Shaheen will raise the acute scarcity in Banihal Constituency — particularly Sumar, Thachi, Manjit, Chajloo, Ramsoo and Tajnihal — which, he said, is "causing severe hardships to the residents there."
Altaf Ahmad Wani will highlight the non-availability of drinking water at Wallarham, H. Kathal and Sofipora in Pahalgam Constituency. Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi will call attention to the "inordinate delay" in executing a 13-km water supply pipeline project sanctioned under AMRUT 2.0 for 13 wards of Municipal Committee Budgam.
Darshan Kumar will point to the failure in providing adequate funds for immediate restoration of damaged and suspended drinking water supply schemes in Panchayats Sandhar, Ghagrore, Palakha, Chummera, Manhanpur, Athoon and other areas of Dhar Mahanpur block damaged in recent floods, as well as the restoration of damaged irrigation khuls at Kua, Noweshra, Nanilli, Severa, Gadodi and Draman.
Sajad Gani Lone will call the attention of the Chief Minister (Minister Incharge Revenue) to "discrimination with Kashmir Division in issuance of certificates under the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) category due to official apathy."
Dr. Shafi Ahmad Wani will raise the recent flash floods in Beerwah Constituency and seek details of the government's response — damage assessment, compensation disbursement and relief for affected persons.

Showkat Hussain Ganie will raise a matter concerning the Agriculture Production Department, while Shiekh Khursheed Ahmad will flag the "undue delay" in providing permissible timber assistance to fire-affected families of Neelipora, Lokipora, Supernaghama, Tantarygund and Gundkuhroo villages of Langate Constituency.
Vikram Randhawa will call attention to the declaration of the old hospital building of Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar, Jammu as unsafe by the Superintendent Engineer (Structural Wing), necessitating its immediate demolition and the construction of a new modern hospital at the site.
Papers to be laid, JJM statement
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah will lay on the Table of the House copies of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India reports for the period ended March 2023 (Report No. 03 of 2026, Composite Audit Report—Civil and PSEs) and for the period ended March 2024 (Report No. 04 of 2026, Composite Audit Report—Civil).
Justice (Rtd) Hasnain Massodi will make a brief statement on the Report of the House Committee constituted to probe alleged irregularities in the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in the Union Territory, presented in the House on September 21, 2026, followed by the government's reply.
The House will also hold a discussion on "the arising situation and consequences owing to acute shortage and un-availability of essential construction material across Jammu and Kashmir."
