Srinagar, October 28 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Conference President and MLA Handwara today expressed serious concern over yet another unfulfilled promise made to the youth of Jammu and Kashmir by the present government.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), he said that in its election manifesto, the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) had promised to waive off application fees charged by recruitment agencies such as the SSRB, JKPSC, and other institutions in J&K.
“I asked a question to find out whether this election promise has been fulfilled,” he said. “In reply, the Minister in the General Administration Department (GAD), who also happens to be the MLA from Ganderbal and the Chief Minister, has informed that Rs 31 crore has been collected in application fees since October last year, when this government came to power.”
He added that the Minister’s reply clearly states that there is no proposal for abolishing application fees for recruitment agencies and that no such proposal is even under consideration.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
“This Rs 31 crore reflects one of the many broken promises, and yet another addition to the trail of lies and deceit,” he said. “Please, for once, can they just admit that they lied and apologise to the youth of Jammu and Kashmir?”

“The National Conference government will waive off all application fees for job aspirants applying to recruitment agencies such as JKSSRB, JKPSC and other institutions in Jammu and Kashmir.”
He said that such broken commitments directly hurt thousands of unemployed youth who are already facing economic hardships and rising job insecurity. “Instead of reducing the financial burden on our young job seekers, this government has collected crores in the name of application fees. It’s a betrayal of their trust,” he added.(KNS)
