Srinagar, Mar 01 (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Saturday ordered a significant administrative reshuffle, transferring and reassigning 34 Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service (JKAS) officers across key departments. The orders, issued by the General Administration Department (GAD), aim to streamline governance and fill vacancies ahead of the fiscal year-end.
Ms. Vivek Sharma, formerly Special Secretary in the Agriculture Production Department, has been appointed as Director General of Floriculture, Jammu. She will assume charge after the retirement of Jatinder Singh on March 31.
Bhavani Rakwal, awaiting adjustment in GAD, is now Project Director of Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan.
Khalid Jahangir, Managing Director of J&K Trade Promotion Organization, moves to the Industries and Commerce Department as Special Secretary, while retaining additional charge as Director of the Entrepreneurship Development Institute.
Sudershan Kumar, Secretary of the J&K Board of School Education, takes over as Managing Director of the J&K Trade Promotion Organization.

Several officers have been assigned dual roles. For instance, Vikas Sharma (Housing and Urban Development) will also lead the AMRUT Mission, and Puneet Sharma (Revenue Department) will oversee critical projects like SVAMITVA and AGRISTACK.
Shahbaz Ahmad Mirza becomes Managing Director of the J&K Housing Board.
Rubina Kausar takes charge as Director of Libraries.
Ghulam Hassan Sheikh, previously Additional DDC Srinagar, is now Secretary of the J&K Board of School Education.
The transfers, ordered under Government Order No. 320-JK(GAD), came into force immediately. The reshuffle impacts departments ranging from Education, Tourism, and Skill Development to Urban Planning and Conservation.
The move aligns with routine administrative restructuring to optimize efficiency and address vacancies. Notably, some postings, such as Mohammad Nazir Sheikh (repatriated from Ladakh as Director of Handicrafts), reflect inter-UT adjustments. (KNS)
