Srinagar, Nov 09(KNS): Mian Altaf Ahmed, Member of Parliament for Anantnag-Rajouri, has voiced strong concerns about the poor condition and delayed construction of the 220-kilometre Jammu-Poonch highway, which serves as a strategic route in Jammu and Kashmir. The deteriorating state of the highway, which connects several key areas, has been causing significant inconvenience to the public and impacting regional connectivity.
In a statement, Mian Altaf criticised the slow pace of work by the Border Roads Organisation’s (BRO) Beacon unit, responsible for maintaining the highway. He argued that the project’s delays have undermined the road’s strategic value, which is crucial for the movement of people and goods within Jammu and Kashmir.
"The highway is in a dilapidated state, causing major inconvenience to the public. The slow progress on this important project has marred the purpose of this strategically important route," he said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

He urged the BRO to expedite work on this section, as it is vital for improving accessibility and fostering economic and social ties between these regions.
Calling for immediate action, Mian Altaf appealed to the relevant authorities to prioritise this project and ensure that the highway’s construction and maintenance needs are met promptly to restore its full functionality and strategic significance.(KNS).
