Jammu, March 6 (KNS): Leader of Opposition (LoP) Sunil Sharma took a strong stance against the National Conference (NC) while addressing the media, accusing the party of having Pakistan in its DNA. He also dismissed the People's Democratic Party's (PDP) request for support on a liquor ban bill, stating that his party had its own priorities.
During his media interaction, Sharma asserted that matters related to external affairs should be left to the Ministry of External Affairs, and no ad hoc decisions should be taken at the local level. “Tomorrow, we will call a Panchayat’s Panches, but we will not call any ‘Serpents’ Panches,’” he remarked, emphasizing that representatives should focus on developmental promises made to the people.
He targeted senior NC leader Ali Mohammad Sagar, expressing disappointment over his statements. “It is very unfortunate that senior leaders like Ali Mohammad Sagar speak in this manner.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelPakistan is buried in the DNA of the National Conference,” Sharma alleged, adding that voters had elected representatives for development, not for political rhetoric.
Sharma further referenced the 2002 elections, questioning the role of the Ikhwan cadre and accusing NC leaders of past associations. Additionally, he took a dig at PDP President Mehbooba Mufti, who recently wrote a letter seeking support for banning liquor. “PDP has its own agenda, and we are not going to be involved in it. When we get a bill, we will support our own, but why should we support PDP’s bill?” he stated.
Dismissing Mufti’s efforts, Sharma remarked that PDP had only three MLAs and advised the party to focus on its own affairs. “Madam Mehbooba is free to write letters. We are busy with bills and questions,” he concluded. (KNS)
