Srinagar March 5 (KNS): The Nigeen Lake Conservation Organisation (NLCO) has once again drawn attention to the deteriorating condition of the Sazgaripora side of Khushalsar, urging immediate intervention from the government for sustained conservation efforts.
NLCO Chairman, Manzoor Wangnoo, highlighted the urgency of the situation, stating that despite the significant restoration work carried out by NLCO under Mission Ehsaas in collaboration with administration the area is in dire need of government attention to prevent further degradation. The once-designated college site, which was successfully reclaimed and rejuvenated by NLCO, now demands comprehensive and sustained action from the administration to maintain the progress achieved.
“We have done our part in reviving this neglected waterbody, but for long-term sustainability, the government must step in with concrete measures.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelWithout proactive conservation efforts, there is a risk of regression, which would undermine all the hard work put in to restore this vital ecosystem,” said Wangnoo.
NLCO calls upon the concerned authorities, particularly the Jammu & Kashmir administration and the Lake Conservation & Management Authority (LCMA), to take immediate steps such as dredging, waste management, and proper boundary demarcation to ensure the restored area remains protected. Additionally, long-term mechanisms, including regular maintenance and enforcement against encroachments, must be put in place to preserve this crucial waterbody.(KNS)
