Omar Abdullah on UCC, Waqf Bill: Final Call Lies with Parliament

Srinagar, Jan 28 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has weighed in on the discussions surrounding the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Uttarakhand and the proposed Waqf (Amendment) Bill, emphasizing that these matters will ultimately be decided at the national level in Parliament.


Speaking to reporters, as per KNS, Abdullah remarked on Uttarakhand's move toward implementing the UCC, saying, "Let them do it. They may do what they want. The final decision will be made in Parliament.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel"

On the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, he clarified that no new legislation has been enacted yet. He noted that the bill is currently under review by a parliamentary committee, with discussions underway.

Abdullah also highlighted that Mirwaiz Umar Farooq have shared their views with the committee. "Let the committee do its work, and after that, there will be a debate in Parliament," he stated(KNS)
