Srinagar, April 28 (KNS): Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday said that no other assembly or parliament could comprehend the pain of losing 26 lives in the Pahalgam terrorist attack better than the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, which had itself suffered a similar tragedy in the past, losing 40 people in a single terrorist strike.
Speaking during a special session convened to condemn the Pahalgam attack, Omar Abdullah recalled the deep scars left by the earlier assault, mentioning how former MLA Ali Muhammad Naik had suffered injuries that remained with him until his death years later.
Addressing the House, the Chief Minister paid heartfelt tributes to the victims of the Pahalgam carnage. "This is why I say their grief and pain can only be truly understood by this Assembly. No other assembly or parliament will ever fully grasp what it means," he said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
He particularly remembered Ali Muhammad Naik, who, as an MLA at the time, sustained injuries that never healed. "The scars of that attack stayed with Nayak Sahib throughout his life and did not heal even when he passed away many years later," Omar said, highlighting the enduring wounds inflicted by terrorism on the leadership of Jammu and Kashmir.
"Even today, some among us continue to carry the injuries from those dark days," he said emotionally, underlining the lasting impact of the violence.
Calling for unity against terrorism, Omar Abdullah emphasized the resilience and courage of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
"This Assembly knows the true meaning of sacrifice and loss like no other," he asserted. (KNS)
