Srinagar, January 08 (KNS): The main Republic Day 2026 celebration in Jammu and Kashmir will be held at Maulana Azad Stadium, Jammu, where Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha will preside over the function. He will inspect the parade, take the salute and address the people.

According to news agency KNS, all officers and officials of government departments and public sector undertakings posted in Jammu have been directed to attend the function as part of their official duty. Heads of Departments and Chief Executives of public sector undertakings have also been asked to ensure their presence along with their subordinate staff to mark the occasion.

The Beating Retreat ceremony, held as part of the Republic Day celebrations, will take place on January 29, 2026, at 4:30 pm at Maulana Azad Stadium, Jammu. To ensure smooth and peaceful celebrations, police and security forces have been put on alert across Jammu and Kashmir, including Jammu, Srinagar and other districts. Additional checkpoints have been set up, and checking operations have been intensified across the Union Territory.

Security arrangements have also been strengthened along the Line of Control and the International Border, especially in sensitive areas.

Meanwhile, in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, police have intensified checking and search operations along the Srinagar–Jammu National Highway in the Qazigund area. The measures are aimed at ensuring public safety and maintaining law and order ahead of the Republic Day celebrations.

Police officials said that senior officers are closely monitoring the security situation to ensure a safe and secure environment for the national celebrations.(KNS)
