Jammu, September 18 (KNS): National Conference Additional General Secretary and former Minister, Ajay Kumar Sadhotra, today visited the flash flood, cloudburst and severely rain-hit areas of villages Sadi Kala, Sadi Khurd, Jakhan, Soura, Lipera and Sahanoo in Nagrota Asssembly Constituency to take first hand stock of the situation and express solidarity with the affected families.
During his extensive tour, Sadhotra met the people who have suffered losses and had an on-the-spot feel of their hardships, assuring them that their concerns would be taken up on priority with the administration.
Sadhotra said that the recent torrential rains, accompanied by cloudbursts and flash floods, have caused widespread devastation in Nagrota and adjoining areas, severely impacting infrastructure, public utilities and private property. He interacted with locals and assessed the damages to road connectivity, electricity supply, water sources and
residential houses.
In order to ensure timely redressal of pressing issues, Sadhotra held telephonic conversations with Chief Engineers of Roads & Buildings (R&B), Public Health Engineering (PHE), Chief Engineer Power and Director Rural Development requesting them to focus their attention to restoration of the works, connectivity in the rural area in the remote belts of Nagrota and Jindrah to Sadi Gali road to Kali Mata Ji at Karai Dhar Narsoola. He emphasized that particular urgency is required to reconnect cut-off habitations, restore power lines, and provide safe drinking water, which is a major concern in the aftermath of the floods.
While appreciating the gigantic efforts put in by various wings of the administration in meeting the challenges posed by the unprecedented natural calamity, Sadhotra said that the steps taken so far have been in line with the clear directives of Chief Minister Jenab Omar Abdullah, who has consistently stressed upon prompt andpeople-centric

He made a particular mention of restoring the damaged road network leading to Gujjar and Bakerwal Bastis, which are worst affected and remain dependent on connectivity for livelihood and essential supplies. He also highlighted the urgent need for restoration works around the most revered ashapas of Mata Kali Ji which holds immense religious significance and attracts large gatherings of devotees Sadhotra reiterated that National Conference remains committed to public welfare and has always stood by the people during testing times.
“The National Conference has a long tradition of serving humanity, and this commitment will continue undeterred,” he said, assuring the affected families that their sufferings will not go unheard.
He urged the administration to take a compassionate view of the losses suffered and extend maximum possible support in the shape of relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction measures. Expressing solidarity with the flood-affected people, Sadhotra said that natural disasters should be met with collective resolve and human compassion.
