SDA Fixes Entry Fees for Sonamarg to Protect Tourists and Locals

Sonamarg , Jan 11 (KNS): The Sonamarg Development Authority (SDA) has implemented a mandatory, uniform fee structure for all vehicular entry and associated services within the tourist destination. Officials state the measure is designed to eradicate longstanding malpractices and shield both visitors and residents from arbitrary and excessive charges.

A senior tourism official told News Agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) that the SDA has issued a public directive enforcing strict adherence to the newly notified rates. The authority has emphasised that the approved tariffs apply universally, with no distinction made between tourists from outside Jammu & Kashmir and local commuters.

The official detailed the comprehensive schedule, which fixes entry fees for all vehicle categories. Tourist vehicles, including Sumos, Tata Safaris, Qualis, Scorpios, Innovas, and taxis, are now charged ?Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel50. A higher fee of ?200 has been fixed for school excursion buses, as well as for trucks, tippers, tractors, and SRTC/SFC or private and government trucks (including one-tonne vehicles and Tata Mobiles). Sightseeing buses and deluxe coaches are charged ?50, while larger trucks and trailers with more than three axles also incur a ?200 entry fee.

The official described the directive as a strict warning against any form of unauthorised overcharging. He further stated that the SDA is urging the public to refer to the official schedule and to report any violations directly to the authorities. (KNS)
