Srinagar, Nov 11 (KNS): After an extended dry spell, Kashmir’s higher reaches received the season's first snowfall, bringing a touch of winter to the valley on Monday.
During the fresh snowfall of around 2-3 inches blanketed the upper reaches of Gulmarg, including Phase 2 of the famed ski resort. The higher reaches of the Pir Panjal Range and the Affarwat hills also saw a light dusting of snow, creating a picturesque winter scene.In Kupwara district, Sadan Top received nearly 4 inches of fresh snow, and snowfall continued throughout the afternoon.

Meanwhile, the plains of Kashmir were lashed with intermittent rains, providing relief from the prolonged dry conditions. The rain and snowfall together have brought down temperatures significantly, signaling the arrival of winter weather in the valley..
