Struggle for statehood is a fight for justice, Self-respect for people of J&K: Karra

REASI, February 21 (KNS): Charging BJP with adopting deceitful tactics in restoring statehood, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Tariq Hameed Karra today said that getting statehood is genuine demand and a legitimate right of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing an impressive rally as part of the ongoing “Hamari Riyasat Hamara Haq” campaign, Mr. Karra strongly warned against the deliberate delay tactics being employed to deny the people of J&K their legitimate right to statehood.

He asserted that the Congress will not hesitate to take to the streets if the BJP-led Union Government continues to deprive the region of its rightful status.

Accompanied by Working Presidents Tara Chand,Raman Bhalla Ch Lal Singh, Ravinder Sharma, Former Minister Jagjivan Lal, Ex MLA Ch Mumtaz Khan, Rajesh Sadotra, Rakesh Wazir, Vijay Sharma & other senior leaders,Mr Karra while Speaking to a large gathering, organised by DCC led by Bhupinder Singh.

Mr. Karra emphasized that statehood is not a privilege but a fundamental right of every citizen of Jammu and Kashmir. He stated that the continued denial of statehood amounts to the denial of basic democratic rights to the people. The JKPCC president vowed to intensify the ongoing movement, ensuring that the people's voice is heard at every level.

J&K Congress chief expressed satisfaction over the enthusiastic response that the "Hamari Riyasat Hamara Haq" campaign has been receiving from the people across the region. He assured the gathering that the Congress Party is committed to taking this movement to its logical conclusion. He further pointed out that the campaign has not only mobilized public sentiment but has also exposed the BJP’s unwillingness to address the concerns of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Coming down heavily on BJP leaders in Jammu and Kashmir, Karra condemned their "criminal silence" on the issue of statehood. He criticized local BJP leaders for failing to advocate for the rights of their own people and accused them of deliberately misleading the public with contradictory statements.
According to Mr. Karra, instead of standing with the people in their just demand for statehood, BJP leaders have been indulging in political maneuvering to avoid addressing this crucial issue.

Mr. Karra also cautioned people against the nefarious designs of the BJP, accusing the party of indulging in divisive politics to divert attention from pressing public issues. He alleged that while common people are struggling for basic amenities, BJP leaders are focused on creating communal and regional divides.

He further asserted that the Congress Party will continue to fight against such political deceit and will ensure that the real issues of the people, such as restoration of statehood, employment, and development, remain at the forefront of the political discourse.

Mr. Karra urged the people of Jammu and Kashmir to remain united and actively participate in the ongoing struggle for their rights. He emphasized that the restoration of statehood is not just a political issue but a matter of dignity and self-respect for the people of J&K.

He appealed to all sections of society, including youth, traders, farmers, and intellectuals, to join hands in this movement, as their collective strength would force the government to take immediate action to restore the democratic rights of the region.

Mr. Karra reaffirmed that Congress will not remain silent on this issue and will escalate its agitation if the BJP-led Central Government continues to ignore the demand for statehood. He warned that any further deliberate delays in restoring statehood would lead to strong protests and demonstrations across Jammu and Kashmir.

Karra also issued a stern warning to party cadres to respect the coalition dhar a and always speak responsibly,about coalition parter as Congress has a bigger goal & bigger rolr and the fight agr BJP- RSS can't be fought by anyone alone.

Speaking on the occasion,Ex Dy CM Tara Chand reminded the gathering of the contributions of Congress before & after independence especially in Jammu kashmir. He referred to the vital role played with large scale development on all fronts especially during UPA I & IInd,in every sphere including opening of large number of administrative units.He lashed out at BJP for its devisive & diversionary politics.
Shri Raman Bhalla termed Reasi District as abode of reverred holy shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi ji & Shiv Khori and the economy of Jammu is dependent on pilgrims.He favoured promotion of tourism in the district and facilities but not at the cost of livilihood of labourers.

Ex MP Ch Lal Singh referred to the history of Reasi and saluted General Zorawar Singh and lashed out the BJP for downgrading the historical dogra state and removing out identity.He said our struggle for statehood has to intensified by all.

The rally ended with a strong resolution from Congress leaders and party workers, vowing to continue the struggle until statehood is fully restored to Jammu and Kashmir.(KNS)
