Srinagar, Dec 19 (KNS):CPI(M) leader and MLA Kulangam, M Y Tarigami, has expressed strong disapproval over the exclusion of a chapter on the revered Sufi saint Sheikh-ul-Alam from the Class IX textbook.
Terming the decision as "deeply troubling," Tarigami said such actions undermine the rich cultural and Sufi heritage of Kashmir, which holds Sheikh-ul-Alam in high regard.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel"This blue-pencilling, carried out prior to the Assembly polls, is unacceptable to a society rooted in centuries-old Sufi traditions," he remarked.
He urged Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to personally intervene in the matter. "The chapter must be reinstated to preserve and honor our cultural and spiritual legacy," Tarigami added (KNS)
