Srinagar, Nov 18(KNS): The valedictory function of the week-long training program on the 'Craft of Beekeeping & Winter Management of Bee Hives under Temperate Conditions of J&K' was held today at SP College Srinagar.
Prof Haroon Rashid Naik, Director Planning & Director Research, graced the occasion as the chief guest and highlighted the university's commitment to providing 550 training programs this year from MSME, GOI.
Expressing gratitude for the ministry's support, he emphasized the goal of empowering students to become employers right from the start.
Prof S A Gangoo, Dean Faculty of Forestry, shared insights into the entrepreneurial potential in Medicinal and Aromatic Plants, extending an open invitation to students from SP College and other institutions to explore the faculty's collection of medicinal plants. Prof Wilayat Rizwi, Registrar Cluster University, and Prof Gh Jeelani Quarshi, Principal SP College, acknowledged the collaborative efforts and initiatives, expressing gratitude to SKUAST K for their support in conducting various training programs.

The Training Coordinator, Dr. Syed Naseem Geelani, HoD of SBS, FOF, SKUAST K, highlighted the program's focus on beekeeping under the flagship 7-day initiative. The goal is to provide students with insights into allied sectors, preparing them for successful entrepreneurship. Dr. Geelani expressed readiness for future collaborations with the college, aiming to further support students in their endeavors.
Dr. Mehraj from the Department of Zoology anchored the program, emphasizing that treating bees like pets could enhance livelihood opportunities. The coordinators, Dr. Naseem Geelani and Dr. Showket, were awarded appreciation awards from SP College in recognition of their efforts. The event concluded with gratitude expressed to Vice Chancellor Prof Nazir A Ganaie for his instrumental role in approving and organizing these programs.(KNS).
