Srinagar Nov 23 (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar on Wednesday said that governance and development in Kashmir including Srinagar are only confined to media spectacle and photo ops.
This he said while addressing a worker's convention of Halqa Nowhatta of the Khanyar constituency. Among others YNC Provincial President Salman Ali Sagar and Block President Haji Bashir Ahmed Wani Halwai were also present on the occasion.
Interrupted democratic system, lack of accountability, corruption, and absence of rule of law have been major hurdles in the way of good governance and development across Kashmir, and significantly more in Srinagar. “Unemployment has been on a rise since the abrogation. Every sector be it handicrafts, manufacturing, trade and commerce, development and governance is crying for the government's attention. Pesky power and water supply is causing severe hardships to the residents and traders.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelAlmost every businessman, from a small shopkeeper to those who run industrial units, suffers enormously due to the erratic power supply. Administration is sitting on its hands and doing nothing to resolve the issue," he said.
Administration, Sagar rued has withdrawn its focus from welfare of poor, elderly and other economically backward sections of the city. “It is only NC that can counter the damage done by the policies pursued by the incumbent administration. The prevailing situation needs a distinctive approach to deal with developmental, and political aspirations of the people. It's only NC that has the ability to deliver on these fronts. People want an end to Babu Raj, the outsourced officials have failed to deliver on ground,” he said.
Sagar asked the party cadre to gear up for the challenges ahead. "None of us can sidestep our individual responsibilities today. We have to work in tandem with a sense of responsibility and belonging towards our party and people. We are fighting a battle to protect our unique cultural, constitutional and political disposition,” he added.(KNS)
