Baramulla November 23 (KNS) : First Annual Day function was celebrated at 'Dagger Parivaar School' Baramulla. The school is designed for specially abled children of Baramulla with current strength of 66 children with different medical conditions.
The Guests of honour Janhavi Dhariwal Balan and Punit Balan came all the way from Pune to motivate the Little Angels. Students performed on various activities like group dance, group song, solo dance etc. The captivating energy and enthusiasm were praised by the parents and civil officials.
The association of Indian Army and Indrani Balan Foundation for the noble initiative in the valley was well appreciated by all spectators. Janhavi Dhariwal Balan and Mr. Punit Balan were ecstatic with the functioning of school and annual report of first year given by Mrs. Sabia Farooq, Principal Dagger Parivaar School.
The teachers were also felicitated for their hard work and dedication for the students and school. On the occasion, Major General Ajay Chandpuria, VSM, GOC 19 Infantry Division, interacted with the parents and reiterated the Indian Army's support for the development of the local population.
The event was supported and encouraged by the different administrative offices of Baramulla to include Deputy Collectorate, Govt Medical College, Baramulla and Education Department, Baramulla. All of the parents of children attending the school praised the event, which further strengthened people's faith in the Indian Army's resolve to support the local population in every possible manner.
Also, six Ganesh mandals of Pune including Punit Balan will celebrate Ganeshotsav in Kashmir in 2023. Lord Ganesha is the God of good fortune, wisdom and prosperity & Pune's Ganeshotsav has always been a special festival for the citizens of India. The six mandals of Pune will install replicas of their Bappa in different districts of Kashmir next year.
In a statement Punit Balan said “At a time when the economic development of Jammu and Kashmir is at its peak after the abrogation of Article 370, we are trying our best to ensure that citizens here should also get to experience this 130-year-old cultural heritage of Maharashtra.” He also added if we send Ganesha idols to multiple foreign countries like US, Spain, etc. then why not bring it in Kashmir.

It was February 25, 2021 when Punit Balan began his ‘Nation First’ initiative under the Indrani Balan Foundation by entering into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Army’s Chinar Corps in Srinagar.
Since then two institutions have been working for promote education in Kashmir valley. This includes financial sustainability of schools in Kashmir which will entail a support of over three crore rupees per year for the next five years, and help ramp up the infrastructure and run the educational institutions better.
Punit Balan, President of Indrani Balan Foundation, envisions a prosperous and progressive Kashmir and has taken the initiative to invest in nation building as a social responsibility.
Punit Balan's foundation has extensive experience in social work in the fields of education, health, and sports, which will significantly contributes to improving the quality of education as well as the self-sustainability of these schools in the future.
This initiative of Indrani Balan Foundation will be a great example for other corporates to come forward and contribute in building prosperous Kashmir. Punit Balan said their foundation intends to add five schools from Kashmir every year for financial sustainability. “Last year, we had schools mostly from north Kashmir, but this year, at least three are from south Kashmir. We will be continuing to serve and build a better nation,” Balan said.
Moreover, in 2021, Jashn-e-Baramulla, a mega cultural event organised by the Army in collaboration with the Indrani Balan Group, was held in Baramulla. The musical fest’s aim was to celebrate Baramulla's rich musical heritage and to promote local Kashmiri talent.
The event's main attraction was Bollywood singer Javed Ali. To the delight of the audience, he belted out several Bollywood songs and there were several other artists whose performance mesmerized the audience.
The singers also sang Vande Matram, which brought everyone together and instilled a sense of patriotism in everyone. This cultural fest was intended to bring Kashmir closer to the rest of India.
It is worth noting that, since the abrogation of Article 370, Punit Balan is the first entrepreneur to take on the noble initiative on such a large scale. His initiatives have met with some resistance, as these changes are being witnessed for the first time and are bound to make some people uncomfortable.(KNS)
