Bandipora Mar 03 (KNS): A flash flood, accompanied by heavy snowfall, struck Barnoi Tulail village in Bandipora district, North Kashmir, on Monday, causing extensive damage to residential properties.
Reports reaching said that the incident led to the damage of 14 homes and storage sheds used for ration supplies, leaving the area severely impacted.
Local resident Murtaza Ahmad told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that the flood water, combined with the snow, wreaked havoc on the village, which has been facing heavy snowfall in recent days. This has made the region more vulnerable to snow slides, flash floods, and avalanches.
The region’s frequent exposure to harsh weather conditions has made the area prone to such natural disasters.
Many residents, whose properties were affected, have called for immediate relief from the authorities, urging them to assess the extent of the damage and provide support to those in need.
The community also expressed distress over the ongoing power outage that has affected many villages in the area. With no electricity for an extended period, locals have pleaded with the administration to restore power promptly to ease their hardships. (KNS)
