Baramulla, Mar 21 (KNS): Govt. Middle School Brandub in Zone Rohama, District Baramulla, is facing severe challenges due to encroachment, traffic congestion, and a lack of essential infrastructure, putting students' education and safety at risk.
With over 120 students and only four teachers, the school is struggling to maintain a proper learning environment. The absence of a protective fence has made the premises vulnerable to encroachment, with bus and sumo drivers turning the area into an unauthorized stand. The continuous noise from traffic and blaring horns disrupts classes, making it difficult for students to focus.
Despite repeated appeals from the school administration and local residents, authorities have failed to take action. Reports suggest that funds allocated for fencing the school were diverted elsewhere under the influence of powerful individuals, leaving the children exposed to traffic hazards.
Parents, teachers have expressed frustration over the worsening conditions. "The noise from buses is so loud that students can't hear me while I teach.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHow can they concentrate?" one teacher lamented.
Parents are equally concerned, fearing for their children's well-being. Shameema, a local resident, shared her distress: "My daughter comes home complaining of headaches. She tells me, ‘Ammi, the bus horns in school are too loud. I can't focus on my studies.’"
Additionally, the lack of a playground has deprived students of recreational activities, further impacting their overall development. Education experts stress that a conducive learning environment includes both academics and physical activities.
Babar, a student at the school, made a heartfelt appeal: "Authorities need to take action. If this continues, we might have to stop our studies."
Residents of Brandub and Khanmoh have urged the administration to intervene urgently by constructing a protective fence and relocating the bus stand to a safer location. If immediate action is not taken, the future of these children remains uncertain. (KNS)
