Sajad Lone Seeks Clarity on Recruitment as J&K Govt Admits 32,474 Vacancies

Jammu, Mar 03 (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir government has informed the Legislative Assembly about the existence of 32,474 vacancies across various departments.  


In response to a query from MLA Handwara, Sajad Gani Lone, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who also oversees the General Administration Department, stated in a written reply that these vacancies were recorded as of January 31, 2025.  

The breakdown of vacancies includes 2,503 gazetted posts, 19,214 non-gazetted positions, and 10,757 multi-tasking staff roles.  

The government further disclosed that since October 16, 2024—when Omar Abdullah’s administration took office—3,727 vacancies have been referred to the Jammu & Kashmir Service Selection Board and Public Service Commission.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThese include 738 gazetted posts, 1,754 non-gazetted positions, and 1,235 multi-tasking staff slots.  

Additionally, the administration revealed that Rs 14.17 crore has been collected as examination fees from job aspirants applying through the recruitment tests conducted by the SSB and PSC.  

On the issue of waiving application fees for job seekers, the government clarified that no such proposal is currently under consideration.  (KNS)
