Media conclave held in Srinagar, issues faced by Kashmir journalists discussed

Srinagar, Jan 02 (KNS): A mega Media Conclave was held today at Hotel Lala Rukh in Lal Chowk Srinagar to discuss main issues faced by the media fraternity in Kashmir especially by working journalists. 


Eminent journalist and Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board member Suhail Kazmi, BJP J&K spokesperson and head of party’s policy research department Thakur Abhijeet Jasrotia, BJP leader Surinder Ambardar, editor in chief Heaven Mail Iqbal Ahmad and journalist Arshid Mir were present on the occasion. 

During the discussion, fixing of minimum wages to working journalists and providing them all important provident fund and insurance cover was demanded in one voice.

On the other hand issues faced media fraternity, owners and editor especially with respect to disparity in the government advertisements were discussed and justice for same was demanded. 

Journalists raised the issue of press club, medical facilities , insurance policies, long pending genuine issue of empanelment of Newspapers and other benifits and also raised the lack of responsive administration to the stories filed by journalists.

The other issues which journalists raised were functioning of newspaper organizations and allotting of government advertisements to local media outlets.

The conclave also stressed upon the government to make Kashmir Press Club functional for betterment of media institutions.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel 

The member assured the media persons that all these issues have been noted and something good is in pipeline for media fraternity of Kashmir in the coming days.

Speaking on occasion, Surinder Ambardar talked at length on history, mystics identity of Kashmir and praised the role of media fraternity. 

Abhijeet Jasrotia said media should work for transformation of positivity, which will uphold the right meaning of the media. 

He also highlighted the role of media as bridge between people and administration and appreciated the positive role played by the Kashmir media in this regard. 

“Today’s meeting is a realization and acceptance that media has to play a role and responsibility to act as bridge between people and administration and can prove as medium for interaction between the two,” he said. 

Among other who participated in the event include Muzafar Ahmed Khan, Arshid Mir, Mohammad Iqbal, Beig Shamim Ahmed, Rahi Nazeer, Shabnam Fayaz, Basharat Bukhari Mehraj u Din Faraz ,Shakeel Azad Bashir Naaz, Shabnam Javid, Ruby Nisar, Zahid Bhat, Suhail Ahmed and others.

The participants in unison vowed to fight for the issues faced by the journalist community of Jammu and Kashmir. (KNS)
