Secretary Health and Medical Education launches "Save Brain" initiative

Srinagar May 09 (KNS): Secretary Health and Medical Education shri Bhupinder Kumar launched the "save brian" invitative of Health services in an impressive function held in Srinagar.

The initiative was launched in presence of Director Health Services kashmir, Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Rather, senior doctors and officers of the health department. Senior faculty members from skims soura and GMC srinagar were also present. 

The save brain initiative whose nodal officer is neurologist Dr Showkat Hassan Bhat, has been started in district hospitals which have the facility of CT scan.

Secretary Health and Medical Education shri Bhupendar Kumar applauded the Directorate and doctors of the health department for beginning this vital life saving service in Kashmir.

He said this initiative will go a long way in enhancing manpower in primary healthcare centres and prevent patients with strokes from getting paralysed for life.

Director Health services Kashmir Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Rather said the save brain service will further improve and argument the healthcare sector in district and sub district hospitals.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

He said it is a great relief for patients who had to rush to tertiary hospitals for this service.

He said that the medicine needed for stroke thrombolysis will be kept free in district hospitals so that the patients are provided it in the hospital without any cost.

Director Health services Dr. Mushtaq Rather further said that "save brain" has so far save many patients in rural areas in getting paralysed due to strokes.

He explained that the first four hours are "golden time" for a patients which suffer strokes because if the patients doesn't get initial treatment in this duration the patient gets paralysed and remains dependent on other till his life.

Dr Showkat  nodal officer save Brain initiative said that staff and doctors in rural hospitals are imparted training for giving initial treatment to patients with strokes.(KNS)
