Srinagar, Nov 10 (KNS): Director General BSF Nitin Agrawal Thursday said that the recurring attempts from across the border to sneak in more militants before the winter sets in, necessitating the closure of tracks due to snowfall.
Agrawal, during his visit to the Subsidiary Training Centre (STC) Kashmir at Humhama, inspected a passing out parade of 599 BSF recruits, where he emphasized the need for heightened vigilance by the security forces to thwart such infiltration bids.
Pointing out the annual pattern of attempts to escalate militant presence before winter, Agrawal assured the forces' readiness to counter such moves. He mentioned his recent visit to the LoC, affirming the troops and Army officers' preparedness to confront potential infiltrations.

Concerning the potential impact of these incidents on the ceasefire and their escalatory nature, Agrawal stressed the need to understand the motives behind these firings to devise an effective strategy. He indicated that despite recent firing incidents, there hadn't been substantial infiltration activities observed along the International Border, except in the Arnia sector.
Also, Agrawal noted that any activities across the border were clandestine, conducted secretively to avoid detection. The passing out parade witnessed the attestation ceremony of recruits hailing from various regions across eastern and southern India, including Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, and Telangana. (KNS).
