Kupwara August 26 (KNS): With an aim to spread awareness among about women rights, the army on Saturday celebrated Women Equality Day at Panzgam in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
According to a statement issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), reads that during the event, two competitions were organized, the drawing and painting competition and a public speaking competition. 200 students from ten schools from all over Kachhama, Lone Harie, Kralpura and Panzgam participated in these competitions. Enthusiastic students applied themselves, worked hard, took guidance from their teachers and came up with beautiful drawings on the theme of women empowerment. It was encouraging to see a large number of girls participating in the event and talking about issues less spoken about. The students showed exemplary creativity and oratory skills. Later, books were awarded to the winners.
Two eminent women guests graced the ocassion. Ruqaiya is a doctor in Kralpora Govt. Hospital. She spread awareness about personal hygiene for women and gave the girl students insights about her profession.
Approximately 500 students and teachers from nearby schools were present to witness the event and marveled at the creativity and confidence of their peers. The teachers and students thanked Indian Army for organizing the event and giving them such a wonderful opportunity of promoting the cause of women empowerment. The event witnessed participation of various civil administration officials.
They attended the event to encourage the students which showcased the jointness of civil administration and Indian Army towards issues of national importance and promoting the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals. Such events by Indian Army reinforce the commitment of the forces that they are devoted to the cause of nation building.(KNS)
