Kupwara, Dec 23 (KNS): The army on Friday inaugurated a Vajra Skill Development and Employment Centre (Cutting & Tailoring) in Dardpora village of Kupwara district
"Dardpora is a remote village with a population of approximately 9500 (Nine Thousand Five Hundred only) and located at the base of Dat- Hammu Ridge line," the army said, adding the village is backward and under developed due to its geographical location and most of the people in the village are poor & unemployed.
It said that a Vajra Skill Development & Employment Centre (Cutting & Tailoring) is being established by the Army in conjunction with Max Life Insurance for providing necessary skills for the upliftment of the local women of Dardpora.
The army futher said that this skill centre (cutting & tailoring) will enable the local unemployed girls to setup a self sustaining small scale infrastructure unit.
"Since majority of population is below the poverty line, the centre will provide employment to the girls and thus help them in contributing to the family sustenance," it said adding that this will go a long way in improving the life of people in general and women in particular.
Futhermore, the Centre has three rooms with four stitching machines for basic training and six motor fitted stitching machines, one interlocking machine and one embroidery machine for basic and advance training.
"Total of 20 girls under a qualified instructor will be initially trained and employed to help these girls towards self employment," the army said.(KNS).
