DGP Reviews Security, Anti-Terror Operations in South Kashmir

 Srinagar, January 22 (KNS): The Director General of Police (DGP) for Jammu and Kashmir, Nalin Prabhat (IPS), chaired a high-level security review meeting today at the District Police Office (DPO) in Anantnag. The meeting focused on assessing the prevailing security situation and reviewing ongoing counter-terrorism operations in the southern Kashmir districts ahead of Republic Day 2026.

 
Senior police officials in attendance included Special DGP (Coordination) S.J.M. Gillani (IPS), IGP Kashmir Zone V.K. Birdi (IPS), DIG South Kashmir Range Javaid Iqbal Matoo (IPS), along with the Senior Superintendents of Police (SSP) for Anantnag, Kulgam, and Awantipora. Other gazetted officers and Station House Officers from the three districts were also present.
 
During the comprehensive review, DGP Prabhat evaluated law and order management, counter-terrorism preparedness, crime control measures, and security plans for the upcoming Republic Day events.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHe emphasized the necessity for heightened vigilance, robust security planning, intensified area domination, and enhanced intelligence-led operations to ensure peaceful and incident-free celebrations.
 
Addressing the officers, the DGP issued directives to deal firmly and decisively with any elements threatening public safety and peace. He reiterated a policy of zero tolerance towards activities detrimental to national security, underscoring the importance of sustained and focused operations against such threats.
 
Concluding the meeting, DGP Prabhat urged the officers to maintain a public-friendly approach while upholding the highest standards of professionalism and dedication to ensure a safe and secure environment for all citizens. (KNS)
