Srinagar Oct 17(KNS): All-party meeting led by National Conference leader and M Hasnain Masoodi over the issue of inclusion of outsider voters in J&K electoral rolls is underway in Jammu region.
Aaccording to Kashmir News Service (KNS), correspondent, MP Hasnain Masoodi is leading the meeting which has just started at residence of National conference president in Jammu. The senior political leaders representing different parties of Jammu and Kashmir are participating in this meeting.
Masoodi while speaking exclusively to KNS, said that the people of J&K are being disimpowerd by the government by including non-locals in the voter lists we should fight against this move. Earlier, the state election commission said that even outsiders residing in J&K can get their names registered on electoral rolls. This has triggered pushback from the political parties within J&K that are accusing the Centre of changing the demography of the region by bringing outsiders into the Union Territory.
On last Saturday, Dr Farooq Abdullah has invited leaders of all political parties for a meeting at Gupkar residence to discuss the recent announcement by the J&K govt regarding the inclusion of non-locals in the voter lists.(KNS)
