Srinagar, Aug 26 (KNS): A pressing need for the restoration of the Khushalsar urban lake's central area has been emphasized by Nageen Lake Conservation Organisation (NLCO), currently in its third phase of the community-led Mission Ehsaas campaign.
The President of NLCO, Mr. Manzoor Wangnoo, issued a statement highlighting the urgent attention required to salvage the lake's central portion.
The Mission Ehsaas campaign, steered by the community partnership, has garnered widespread accolades, including recognition from the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, who lauded it during his "Mann Ki Baat" address. Additionally, the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir praised this endeavor on the "Awam ki Awaz" program.
NLCO's dedication in this non-funded initiative has been notable, with the support of Divisional administration, SMC, LC&MA, stakeholders, and community members, particularly from the Gilsar side. However, despite these concerted efforts, the challenges faced by NLCO in keeping this mission sustained are difficult.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The centre portion of Khushalsar, marred by ownership disputes and neglect et, presents a critical issue that demands immediate attention. Acknowledging the importance of governmental resources and skilled manpower, NLCO appeals to concerned public representatives and local communities to take tangible actions.
Mr. Wangnoo emphasized, "NLCO has set a compelling precedent in the restoration of these twin urban lakes. We urge the administration to prioritize and expedite the revival of Khushalsar's central area for sustained outcomes. Let us collectively work towards restoring its former glory."
NLCO believes that collaborative efforts are essential to realize the mission's goals. Restoring the heart of Khushalsar requires a unified commitment and coordinated action. Together, we can ensure the continued success of Mission Ehsaas and bring the center of Khushalsar back to life.(KNS)
