Srinagar, Jan 19 ( KNS): Director School Education Kashmir (DSEK), Tasaduq Hussain on Thursday said that the department is trying to overcome poor reading capacity and other issues, and added, "Our educational performance system has jumped from 18 to 7 in recent NAAS ratings".
"We are trying to overcome poor reading capacity in schools. We had considered 2022 as year of academics and transformation. We are trying to fill learning gaps in our schools. As of now we have jumped from 18 to 7 in NAAS ratings conducted in year 2022", Director School Education Kashmir, Tasaduq Hussain while interacting to media persons said.
On little accommodation in classes, the DSEK said we had enough buildings available who however have been surrendered to other departments. "We had surrendered 666 buildings to other departments. Besides we clubbed many schools. In next 5 years we have plans to improve the infrastructure and other pre-requisits", he said.
Over cigarette smoking by students, the DSEK said "We do not disclose figures as it will encourage others to follow. However we have arrangements in place. Counseling cells in schools have been made operational and anti-tobacco awareness campaigns are underway to curb cigarette smoking in schools", he added. (KNS)
