Srinagar, May 04 (KNS): Secretary Youth Services and Sports J&K, Sarmad Hafeez on Thursday said that the department is mulling to display wall of honors of reputed athletes and sports icons in and around the prominent sports stadium in every district of Jammu and Kashmir.
"The Department of Youth Services and Sports J&K to display wall of honors of reputed athletes and sports icons in and around the sports fields in every district of J&K," Sarmad Hafeez told exclusively KNS.
Talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), he said the Department is working on to provide government jobs to sportspersons who have showed outstanding performance. "Jobs to the outstanding sportspersons under SO-12 are under active consideration in the General Administration Department," he said.
"There should be an encouragement to outstanding sportsmen. It has been decided to provide some kind of inspiration to them," he said.
He also said that the department has planned to engage 70 lac youth in different sports activities this year with an aim to keep them away from social evils, drugs etc.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel"Picture of best sportspersons will be displayed that make their parents, well wishers and entire J&K proud," he said and added, "The pictures of best athletes and sportspersons will be displayed in major sports fields in each district of J&K including MA Stadium and Bakhshi Stadium".
He added it will be a matter of great pride and will inspire new generation to come and engage into sports activities.
He also added, "The department will bring reputed national and international sportsmen to Jammu and Kashmir in order to inspire youth towards sports activities," he said.
The officer held that the outstanding sportspersons will likely get government job I future and the proposal in under active consideration. "Hope some concrete output will come to fore for outstanding sportspersons. Apart from non-gazetted posts, 5 gazetted posts also will be reserved for outstanding sportsmen. Besides we are working on that admissions in different colleges and universities should be kept reserved for the category," he added. (KNS)
